At the recent Paralympics, Dongguan athlete Chen Minyi made our city proud with her gold medal archery win. On September 1, with a total score of 142, Minyi won her second gold medal and set a new Paralympic record.
Minyi was born and raised in Shilong, Dongguan. Since being selected to join the Dongguan Disabled Archery Team at the age of 19, Minyi has been representing the region in the professional sports world. She has done well in the Asian Para Games and the Asian Para Championships, setting herself up for a stellar performance at this year’s Paralympics.
Before setting this individual record, Minyi won her first Paralympic medal on August 28 during the mixed team competition. This medal made her the first Guangdong athlete to get a gold at this year’s Tokyo Paralympic Games.
“In the past decade, all my efforts have been for the Olympic gold medal, which is the top goal of my sports career,” Minyi stated. With these two wins, she’s undoubtedly gone above and beyond her own expectations and represented our city well.
