Marielle Bueno, a Filipino-Brazilian aspiring singer living in Dongguan, recently landed a Top 50 spot in the 2020 Sing! China competition finals.
Sixteen-year-old Marielle explained that her practice routine includes a lot of breathing exercises in her home studio and practice sessions at her coach’s studio. Her singing coach Soniya signs her up for competitions and arranges specific songs. She chooses songs based on Marielle’s low voice, which is usually an Adele song.
When asked about her Sing! China experience, Marielle shared her thoughts on her own performances. “I get different emotions, but it was nerve wracking when I reached the finals. I’m always prepared to give my best in every competition and there’s always something to learn from every experience,” she said.
Due to her vocal training, Marielle has to control her diet, limiting sweets and certain foods. Yet, Marielle remains positive and grateful for joining singing competitions at a young age.
“I think my motivation would be my strong will to really achieve my goals. I believe that these opportunities don’t come often, so I can say I’m very blessed to have all of this. This is why I really have to work hard to get to work on my dreams,” Marielle said.
