On June 16, China’s messaging app, WeChat, allowed users to change their WeChat ID. This is the moment many with regrettable WeChat IDs have been waiting for.
The new addition was not previously permitted; the only way to change a user’s WeChat ID was to make a new account. To change your WeChat ID, users must update to version 7.0.13. After a successful update, head straight to the “Me” section and access the “My Profile” page by clicking on the arrow in the top right corner. Tap “WeChat ID” and select “Change WeChat ID.” It is a simple and straightforward process.
A user can only change their WeChat ID once a year, and their account must pass all security checks. In the process of choosing a new WeChat ID, the “ID must be between 6-20 characters and should not include your name, birthday or other personal information,” according to the WeChat app.
