Dongguan mourns the loss of Alan Norman Stroud, 72 years old, who passed away in Dongguan Donghua Hospital on April 28, 2020.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Yunping (YP) Stroud, and stepdaughter, Julie Yang Stroud. He is remembered as a determined and strong-minded individual who was soft-hearted and known to always help others.
He led a full and impressive life, joining the Royal Marines at a young age and was part of the 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery. He later served 30 years as part of the Royal Hong Kong Police and Fire Services. He was very well known and respected in the international fire industry.
He met YP in Bangkok in 2006. Together they opened Alan’s World after moving to Dongguan, and later became the previous owners of Murray’s Irish Pub in Dongcheng. Alan’s World is planning a memorial service in honor of its namesake. A date and time will be released once details are available.
