China is starting to see the end of its COVID-19 outbreak, which is proof that surviving it is very doable, but the rest of the world is just getting a taste. Numbers are climbing in 115 countries, with Italy, South Korea and Iran having the most confirmed cases outside of Mainland China.
The world can take a note from China’s book when dealing with and combating the spread of COVID-19.
Listen to Authority
No one likes to be told what to do, but sometimes you should listen to authority. The Chinese government implemented a number of self-quarantine and mandatory-quarantine regulations, required individuals to wear masks when in public and had mandatory temperature checks when entering buildings.
People listened! This minimized the spread of COVID-19.
Wash Your Hands
When COVID-19 began in China, it was disturbingly difficult to find hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial soap. Washing your hands and not touching your face will greatly minimize your chance of contracting COVID-19 according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Use hand sanitizer only if you do not have access to soap and water.
Wear a Mask
Masks are more effective in preventing an individual from spreading the virus to others than the other way around. If you are sick wear a mask; however, symptoms can be dormant for 14 days, so be like China and wear a mask when in public.
When wearing a mask know how to use, maintain and dispose of it properly.
Know the Symptoms and Be Informed
You are running a mild fever, but before you start to panic and think you are going to die from COVID-19, know the symptoms: fever, tiredness and a dry cough. The symptoms between COVID-19 and the flu are similar, but the chances of catching COVID-19 in most places are still low according to WHO.
Do not believe everything you read on the internet. Pull your information from official sources such as WHO, CDC or your local government and raise your chances of surviving COVID-19.
Do not Panic
While this is a viral outbreak, it is not a natural disaster like a snowstorm or hurricane. Toilet paper and bottled water will not protect you from COVID-19. Be smart, do not panic and resist the urge to fight someone over toilet paper.
Corona Beer has Nothing to Do With This…
It is purely a coincidence that COVID-19 (coronavirus) shares a name with the popular Corona beer. The virus got its name from its crownlike structure when viewed under a microscope. You will not get COVID-19 by drinking Corona beer.
