This is an updated version of the original article published February 3.
Dongguan coronavirus cases show improvements with one recovery and only one new case on February 21. This puts the total number of recoveries at 27 people and current cases at 66 people. The number of those infected in Dongguan is declining as the coronavirus sees its third month in China (first reported case in Wuhan in December 2019).
The majority of people infected are those with low immune systems and senior citizens. Symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath.
If you suspect you have come into contact with someone carrying the coronavirus, officials recommend monitoring your condition. If you start to notice flu-like symptoms, put on a surgical mask or N95 mask and go to a testing facility.
There are a total of 1,333 cases in Guangdong and 76,723 cases worldwide and 2,247 deaths.
The Dongguan Sanitation and Health Bureau are recording the number of cases in each town and district in Dongguan with 3 cases in Chang’an, 3 in Changping, 6 in Dalang, 8 in Dalingshan, 1 in Daojiao, 4 in Dongcheng, 1 in Gaobu, 2 in Hengli, 1 in Houjie, 3 in Huangjiang, 4 in Humen, 2 in Liaobu, 9 in Nancheng, 7 in Tangxia, 1 in Fenggang, 3 in Shijie, 2 in Guancheng, 1 in Songshan Lake, 2 in Shipai, 1 in Shilong, 1 in Qiaotou and 1 in Shatian.
The confirmed cases are under quarantine in Dongguan No. 9 People’s Hospital, and those who were in close contact with the infected are under observation according to the Disease Control and Prevention Center. Of those infected 5 are in critical condition. The areas in which the cases were discovered were sanitized by the Disease Control and Prevention Center to minimize the chances of spreading the virus.
