Filmmaking is an efficient way to learn how to creatively tell a story or express an opinion, that’s how the First Annual Southern China Student Film Festival was born. Sponsored by the American Consulate of Guangzhou, the SCS Film Festival is being hosted at the International School of Dongguan with multiple filmmaker workshops and prizes, including equipment, software and certificates. Upload your film by December 1 and discover something new.
“The South China Student film festival was created to give students in this region a chance to learn how to be 21st Century storytellers using cameras, lighting equipment, microphones and editing software,” said Cecil Mack of ISD. “We welcome any student from any school to come and attend a FREE workshop or submit a film to be shared online, voted on and awarded at the awards ceremony.”
Don’t know how to film? No problem. Only a creative mind is needed. The rest can be learned at various workshops held from September to October in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan. The first workshop was hosted at Level 5 in Shenzhen on September 4 for students to learn basic storyboarding, audio, lighting and cinematography using Canon DSLRs and camcorders. Check out the future workshop schedules, including two programs at Treehouse and ISD in October. For more information visit www.scsfilmfest.com
