After four years of waiting, Dongguan will add two more high-speed railway stations in Tangxia and Humen, as the express railway network rapidly develops. The newly approved Guangzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway has been confirmed to travel through the west route, which will go through Dongguan instead of East-Shenzhen, from Jiangxi Province to Shenzhen. A new station, named Tangtouxia in Tangxia Town, will be added as the only stop on the line going through Dongguan. The railway is considered an important passage to connect the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta, as well as a part of the Beijing-Kowloon Express Rail Link. Construction is planned to start by the end of this year and finish by 2020.
Another new station will be located in Humen with the temporary name Humen South to differentiate from the existing Humen Station. It’s built for the new Shenzhen-Maoming High-speed Railway to connect Shenzhen and western-Maoming. It will start at Shenzhen North and head to Humen South and then travel underneath Humen Bridge on the Pearl River before landing in Nansha in Guangzhou and connecting with Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Yangjiang, finally ending in Maoming. It’s part of the Western Guangdong Coastal High-speed Railway, which connects the Pearl River Delta to the western tip of the province, Zhanjiang, in just two hours. The line is already under construction and planned to open by 2018.
