Dongguan Metro Line 2, ran its first full trip from Hongfu Road Stop to Humen, carrying hundreds of passengers from the government, and construction units on December 29. Six years in the making, the line is finally approaching its opening time in May of this year.
The walls and ceilings inside the trains are decorated with images of so-called “Dongguan Elements”, such as the Opium War Museum, the West Gate and Keyuan Garden. The design of major entrances, such as the Exhibition Center, Qifeng Park and Dongcheng stop will symbolize Dongguan’s city flower – the Michelia. There will be at least three months of test-runs, ensuring every train runs at least 2,000 km before it officially opens. Free wifi will also be available on every train.
