As a means to introduce new amenities and facilities for shoppers and entertainment seekers, Mission Hills is bringing the “world’s longest” slip ‘n’ slide to Dongguan’s doorstep. Slide the City is an American event that began with tours from Spokane, Washington to Kansas City so city goers could slide down 1,000 feet of vinyl through main thoroughfares.
The summer party located on the Shenzhen side of the world’s largest golf resort will surround the water slide with a carnival and entertainment. From August 14 to 16, attendees can dance to DJ’s in the evenings after a day carnival and the Centreville Makers Market for art, international cuisine, game booths and music performances. When the facilities are completed at the end of the year, Centreville, an area dedicated to shopping, dining and entertainment in an urban environment, will cover 500,000 sq. meters and will cost upwards of RMB 5 billion.
The slide itself is open to anyone taller than 115 centimeters and older than 5-years-old, as they ride down the vinyl-covered hill on an inner tube. But don’t wear jeans or anything with nails, rivets or fish hooks. You’ll rip the ride and ruin the fun for all. For the whimpier riders, there is a kids’ lane. Entertainment includes artists from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and tickets run from RMB 120 to 480, which can include single, triple or unlimited slide packages.
