A month ago, Nepal was devastated by not one, but two earthquakes, destroying much of its infrastructure and bringing the small country under Mount Everest to its knees. In Dongguan, Nilesh Shrethsa, food and beverage manager at Tangla Dongguan Hotel, contacted Treasures of Hope charity store for help to raise money for a vocational school in Katmandu. At the end of May, donation boxes were placed at a handful of Dongguan businesses. To help, please find the box nearest you at Global Doctor, Hollywood Baby-Chang’An, Pizzeria Calzone or 21 Space Art Museum, Treasure of Hope or Yippee book store. The catastrophe occurred some time ago and the boxes will be picked up on June 23, but your aid will continue for years to come.
The International College of Hospitality Management (ICHM) a vocational school run by Shrestha’s cousin, director Shiv Shrestha. Using his school as an aid center, proceeds from Dongguan will help construct a new building, provide jobs, food and shelter for earthquake victims, and educate orphans and victims.
Saugat Singh, 20, received his BS in Hospitality and Kitchen Management from ICHM. He is now working at the St. Regis Hotel in Sanya. “I went to the college from 2012. It was because of [director Shiv], because he was very caring since I was in high school,” he said. “Before the earthquake they had a cleanliness program, and donation drops.”
