While conserving energy by one hour alone will not change the world, the World Wildlife Fund has promoted Earth Hour bringing together organizations and businesses around the world to raise awareness for energy conservationism. Dongguan’s international hotels joined the world on March 28 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. by turning off non-essential lights. “I have never worked in a hotel that does the Earth Hour,” said Wanda Vista marketing and communications executive Theresa Zheng. “As Wanda is expanding abroad now, we will catch up with the international events for hotels.” Their hotel held a small cocktail party in the candle-lit Lobby Lounge, accompanied by a piano player. Hyatt Regency, Aloft Dongguan in Songshan Lake and Sheraton Dongguan in Houjie also participated in the worldwide event.
