Beard Raises Cash for Dragons

A beard-growing challenge raised an admirable 2,000 RMB for the Dongguan Dragons Baseball Club.

The challenger, Steve Boysen kept his beard growing for about 10 weeks. During that time, he was greatly supported by most of his friends while a few of them were jealous as they couldn’t grow a decent looking beard. Also, he was mocked by some of his Chinese friends, being called “yeren”. These reactions from different friends became motivational for him to persist with the challenge.

“I think the most difficult part of growing a beard is during the second week, it itches like crazy,” said Steve, “and also the fact that I have been bald and completely clean shaven for years made the simple fact of using shampoo and a comb, particularly on a beard, seem a bit odd.”

At last, he raised 2,000 RMB for the Dragons Baseball Club. The money will go towards neccesary equipment.

Steve would like to do it more in the future while he also thinks other Dragons coaches could participate and raise money through various sources. Moreover, it could even become an annual event. Think about the “Dongguan Movember.” Would you like to be a part of it?
