Green Car Plates Arrive in DG

Following in the footsteps of Shenzhen, Dongguan is using green plates for new energy vehicles from now on.

The new plates will be used for pure electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles and fuel cell vehicles. So far, there are 6,000 new energy vehicles in Dongguan, and owners can decide to change or maintain the green plate after initially receiving it upon registration.

An additional number with the new plates that the traditional plates don’t have helps to avoid confusion. The letter “D” on it marks a pure electric vehicle, whereas the letter “F” means non-pure electric vehicles. Small sized vehicles will use a gradient green background with the letter before the numbers; large size vehicles will use a yellow and green background with the letter after the numbers.
