Flowery Japanese Dinner


Dongguan held a dinner to celebrate and certify its first generation of Ikebana enthusiasts, November 20. Ikebana, the ancient Japanese art of flower arranging, is taught by Sabine Chiu who runs the Dongguan chapter of the Ikebana society. Twelve Ikebana students and their families gathered together to at Hillview Golf Club to receive their certification. The certificates are issued by Ikenobo Ikebana Society headquartered in Japan, which is the home and origin of Japanese flower arranging. “Ikebana is a road without ending,” said Sabine. Adding  “When arranging flowers, you need to appreciate the different faces of each flower. This is calm and peaceful and leads to a peaceful conversations with the  flowers. Your eyes will see beautiful things and you will feel happy.”
